The Rules

The misconceptions that come from deceptive truths can be corrected by providing students with a constructive curriculum and school environment based on (1) Inspiration, (2) Exploration, and (3) Participation.

1. Inspiration

Schools should impress us with beauty. If we cannot create beauty through architecture, we should use plants, paintings, and other artifacts of culture. We should display clocks, globes, posters, charts, timelines, and numerical tables. We should build archetypal stories into the architecture and memorialize achievement through statues that honor individuals. We should participate in traditions that celebrate wisdom.

2. Exploration

Schools are familiar places that comfort us. They are part of life, and we go there to study life. They are open and airy, and warm and friendly like our homes, with comfortable materials such as wood and stone. Students can bring things from home and personalize the space, hang up projects, arrange furniture, and make group decisions. They feel a common purpose there.

3. Participation

Students study the town to understand life. Guests visit the school and talk to students and teachers. There is a free flow of ideas. The school provides resources to the town. Students are involved in the town. There are competitions and student performances. Achievement is recognized.
